What telemedicine is
Telemedicine — also called telehealth — is the delivery of health care, health information, or health education by a healthcare professional using interactive electronic communications technology. On iHealix, this means a consultation conducted by live video, audio or text chat between you and an independent, licensed healthcare provider, rather than a physical, in-person encounter.
iHealix is the technology platform that carries these communications. The independent provider — a doctor, nurse, or other licensed practitioner — is responsible for the clinical interaction.
What you are consenting to
By booking and attending a remote consultation on iHealix, you confirm that you:
- understand that the service will be delivered by telemedicine (video, audio or chat) rather than by an in-person visit;
- consent to the transmission of your health information and, where applicable, video or audio of the session, over secure electronic networks for the purpose of your care;
- understand the nature of telemedicine services and have had the opportunity to ask questions before proceeding; and
- accept that the provider may decline to continue a consultation via telemedicine and may refer you elsewhere if they determine that telemedicine is not appropriate for your situation.
If you are booking on behalf of a minor or another person in your care, you confirm that you are authorised to consent on their behalf.
Inherent limitations
Telemedicine cannot replace a physical examination
A remote provider cannot physically examine you. The absence of a physical examination may limit what can be assessed, diagnosed, or treated. The provider will tell you if they believe your condition requires an in-person assessment.
You understand and accept that telemedicine has inherent limitations, including:
- No physical examination. The provider cannot listen to your heart or lungs, palpate your abdomen, or conduct hands-on tests. Clinical findings are based solely on what you describe and what is visible via camera.
- Technical interruptions. Connectivity issues, audio or video degradation, or software failures may interrupt or prevent a session. If this happens, the provider or iHealix will contact you to rearrange.
- Incomplete history. A remote provider relies on the information you provide. Inaccurate, incomplete, or withheld information may affect the quality of the clinical assessment.
- Prescribing limitations. Certain medicines — including controlled substances and some prescription-only medications — may not lawfully be prescribed via telemedicine. Applicable law and professional standards govern what can be prescribed remotely.
- Not a substitute for ongoing care. A telemedicine consultation is not a replacement for a primary care relationship or for ongoing specialist management of a chronic condition.
Emergencies — when not to use iHealix
iHealix is not an emergency service
In a medical emergency in the United States, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. Do not use iHealix if you or someone near you is experiencing a life-threatening emergency — such as difficulty breathing, chest pain, signs of stroke, severe bleeding, loss of consciousness, or risk of harm to self or others.
For non-emergency situations where you are unsure whether your condition requires urgent in-person care, a provider on iHealix can help triage and advise you — but they will direct you to the appropriate emergency or urgent care service if needed. In those cases, please follow their advice promptly.
Recording and data
Sessions on iHealix are not routinely recorded by iHealix. The video and audio streams of your consultation are carried over an encrypted connection (LiveKit infrastructure) and are not stored by iHealix after the session ends, unless you or the provider explicitly saves content such as a photograph shared for clinical assessment.
Consultation notes, prescriptions, and clinical records created by the independent provider during the session are handled as described in our Privacy Policy, including the health-data safeguards section. You must not record the session yourself without the prior consent of the provider.
We process health information only with your explicit consent or as permitted by applicable US federal and state law for the provision of health care services.
No guarantee of diagnosis or outcome
Telemedicine improves access to care but does not guarantee a diagnosis, prescription, or specific clinical outcome. The independent provider on iHealix exercises their own clinical judgement. They may determine that:
- more information or an in-person examination is required before a diagnosis or prescription can be given;
- your condition is outside the scope of what can be safely assessed or managed via telemedicine; or
- a referral to a specialist, emergency department, or other service is the appropriate course.
iHealix is not responsible for any clinical decision made by an independent provider. See our Medical Disclaimer and Terms of Servicefor the full scope of iHealix’s role as a technology platform.
Provider discretion & referrals
An independent provider on iHealix may, at any point during or before a consultation, decline to proceed via telemedicine and recommend or arrange an alternative. This is a clinical judgement call that iHealix does not override. Where a provider ends a session early for this reason, you will be advised of the appropriate next step and, where applicable, a refund will be issued in accordance with our Refund Policy.
Your right to withdraw consent
You may withdraw your consent to telemedicine at any time, including during a session. To do so:
- During a session — inform the provider and end the call. They will advise you on next steps for your care.
- Before a session — cancel your booking in the app. See our Refund Policy for applicable cancellation terms.
- Consent to data processing — you may separately withdraw consent to the processing of your health data at any time by contacting us at info@innoedgetech.com. Withdrawal of data-processing consent does not affect processing already carried out and may mean you can no longer use the Service.
Withdrawing consent to telemedicine does not affect your right to seek care through other means. We encourage you to speak to a healthcare professional in person if you are uncertain about your care.
