This is why doctors sometimes take swabs or cultures to identify the exact bacteria and which antibiotics still work, rather than guessing. Hospitals also use infection-control measures to limit spread.
The best protection is prevention and careful use: good hand hygiene, recommended vaccines, taking antibiotics only when needed and as directed, and never sharing them. Slowing resistance keeps existing antibiotics working for everyone.
