What it is used for
- Pain and inflammation from osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis
- Ankylosing spondylitis (spinal arthritis)
- Some types of acute pain
- Period pain in some regions
How it works
Celecoxib mainly blocks the COX-2 enzyme involved in inflammation and pain, while having less effect on COX-1, which protects the stomach lining. This can mean a lower risk of stomach ulcers than older NSAIDs, though other risks remain.
How it is taken
Comes as capsules taken by mouth. Take it exactly as your doctor or the label directs, with water and with or without food. It is a prescription medicine in most countries, so use it only under a clinician's guidance.
No doses here on purpose. The right strength and schedule depend on you — only a doctor or pharmacist should set them. Always follow your prescription and the label.

Serious effects — get help
- Heart attack or stroke warning signs (chest pain, breathlessness, one-sided weakness, slurred speech)
